How great was the great sale?

We had the Great Stamp Sale yesterday. I was delighted, a just on 1pm all sorts of people started arriving, some who'd been to SERS in the past, and some who were new!

Ellen and I got heaps of help setting up the tables, and there followed three solid hours of shopping!

I couldn't be more pleased with what I took home (I'm going to play with them this afternoon).

As a special treat, Ellen brought a box of samples she had made for shops, for magazines and for classes. We spent some time admiring her work.

Here's one of Ellen's cool samples! She's not even a teddy bear person, but this is gorgeous.

Liz, Cathy and Gail browsing at one of the four tables...

This is not MY haul. Not all of it, anyway. I added more later. Oh my goodness, I bought a lot. I don't think I was the biggest buyer though!

Thanks to everyone who came, it was fabulous. You were good shoppers, and good guests too. Come by SERS any time to have a relaxing time stamping, won't you?

And - there are stamps left! A lot, and plenty of good ones too. So we're plotting the next move. There may be a return visit some other month. Stay tuned!

The enormity of it all

This is probably the last post here before the sale. So let's just get our heads around the whole stamps-for-sale thing. Look at some of the past posts - the stamps are in nice little blue or green baskets.

Well, THIS is where the baskets have been living all this time!

And here they are packed and ready for transport!

And here's a last look at some of the excellent word stamps.

So be at the Mount St Neighbourhood House, Glen Waverley, from 1 to 4pm, on Saturday 29 September, to get a chance to buy these goodies for yourself.

Some Artful Goodness

We're in the last few days before the big stamp sale - here's another taster. Assorted brands, all high quality ones. How sweet is that Noah's Ark?

And some more gorgeous stuff - that tea pot stamp - sigh!

See that house stamp? I think that's made by Penny Black. Just as I uploaded it tonight, it looked familiar....

Have a look at what I have had in a frame in my room for about ten years now ... this!

This pretty card was stamped by Stacey Apeitos using that stamp design. She stamped it on fabric, coloured it, and picked out the good bits in embroidery. It was made ages ago for a SERS challenge, and I can't be sure how I got it, but it's one of my "things" now.

Money Matters

Quick update on the topic of MONEY at the stamp sale. We looked into getting an EFTPOS machine - it's not going to happen! What we can do though, is have an internet-connected laptop handy, for bank transfers. And of course, our old friend cash. If you really stack up the stamps, and can't pay your bill on the day, we can always arrange for you to pay later and have them posted to you. You'd have to cover the cost of postage, of course.

So there we are, that's the arrangements for money. We are trying to keep it simple and just flexible enough.

See ya at the stamp sale!

Who likes bird stamps?

I do, I do! Here are some gorgeous bird stamps, that will be on sale at the Great Southern Stamp Sale, hosted by South Eastern Rubber Stampers on 29 September.

That's not PSX, that's Stampscapes!

Here's another basket of goodies being offered at the Great Southern Stamp Sale. It's a collection of Stampscapes stamps. These are scenery elements that blend together to create a scene. When done expertly, they look just amazing! That odd pear shaped image is the shader stamp, used just for adding touches of colour and blending images together.

Just to let you know there's even more on offer!

Getting sentimental now!

Word stamps are always popular. Simple messages, poetic quotes, words as art. Here's some of the word stamps that will be on offer at the Great Southern Stamp Sale (only a bit over a week to go).

That's a huge drawer full of quality word stamps.

AND you will see letters from the PSX Botanical Alphabet. Ellen does NOT want that alphabet split up, and she DOES want a decent price for it (it was a big investment). If you did a class with Ellen, she may have made you a name tag using this very set (she made me one back when I was a baby stamper!). So, if you are interested in that alphabet, think about it now. And maybe get in touch privately about it.

See ya at the sale!

Do we have PSX Botanical stamps?

When we discuss PSX rubber stamps, the topic of the botanical stamps usually comes up. Famous for their classic beauty, these particular stamps are highly sought after by crafters who didn't realise they wouldn't be in the shops forever.

Will we have any botanical stamps at the Great Southern Stamp Sale? Let's examine this new photo. Why yes, it looks like we will.

Will we have a lot, though?

I don't know, would you call this a lot? 'Cos we have more than these, these are just the ones that were on top.

Now I'm lucky, I already owned the Morning Glory stamp shown here (although mine has had  the writing cut off!). Here's how it looks if you give it a little colour. Pretty nice, eh?

See you at the stamp sale, 6 Mount St, 29 September!

Bags the CARROT!!!!

Is it too soon for another Great Southern Stamp Sale tease? Nope, I don't think so. I have plenty more, and I DO want to encourage everyone available to make the trip.

So, what have we here? Some classic PSX botanical images, but rather than the standard flowers, these are the vegetables and herbs. We see a cabbage, some corn, and OH MY GOD I NEED THAT CARROT STAMP!

You think I'm kidding? I had occasion to make a carrot themed card in recent years (see this photo of Chris at Stamp Club, and also here). I looked high and low for a carrot stamp, and ended up making something with punch craft ( a huge heart punch, cut in half - thanks for asking!). Why a carrot card? She'd hurt her finger pulling up a carrot (!) and needed a commiseration card.

So come to the Great Southern Stamp Sale, where a rare cache of mostly classic PSX stamps are to be offered at wonderful pre-loved prices. Details all on this blog. There will be tea and coffee on offer, and maybe even carrot cake.

You'll note I haven't "bags"ed anything else yet, (I've been very good and I want you all to get first go) but BAGS the CARROT!

And as always, do share this link far and wide!

Another stamp sale tease - PSX building stamps!

Time to show you another lot of goodies we will have at the stamp sale on 29 September. These are classic PSX stamps, an assortment of gorgeous houses! I have just a few of them, and they look fabulous coloured in dignified colours.

And another update - Ellen is investigating the possibility of having an EFTPOS machine there, so you can shop a bit more conveniently. No promises, but we'll see if we can manage that.

Oh, what treats we have in store!

Well, I visited Ellen and her stamp collection, as we prepared for the great stamp sale. Wow, the collection is pretty cool! This photo shows just a few of the boxes. Yeah, that's a big, deep box. It's mostly Christmas stuff. There's more. I'll be posting more pictures as we go along.

And for anyone who's an old friend or fan of Ellen's, she's happily working in geology these days. Like so many stampers, she's good at most things.

The Great Southern Stamp Sale

Welcome to the web site for the Great Southern Stamp Sale.

This event will happen on 29 September 2012, in Melbourne Australia. It's a sale of pre-loved art rubber stamps. It's happening at the regular meeting of South Eastern Rubber Stampers. If you are reading this, you are invited!

In fact, I invite you to pass the address of this blog on to others, and invite them too!

What's special about this particular sale?

The stamps we are selling are SUPER special! There will be LOTS of stamps from Personal Stamp Exchange (also known as PSX), the late, lamented stamp company that made so many of us fall in love with stamping.

These stamps currently belong to Ellen Eadie, the eminent stamper who taught Australians the pleasures of this craft. She is parting with much of her magnificent collection. She wants to see her treasures go straight to other stampers! The card shown here is made with a PSX stamp, one of the famous Botanical range. That's a taste of what might be on offer (keep looking back at this blog for updates between now and the sale!).
