Don't Miss the Great Finby! And other beautiful PSX word stamps for sale...

My latest batch of stamps for sale on eBay are closing tomorrow. These are all the PSX text (or sentiment) stamps from my collection. That's a pretty exciting collection, you don't see so many good ones together very often.

The pictured group of single alphabet stamps is included. I decided they stand for Great Finby, but of course, there are plenty of messages you could make. Remembering that in the world of stamping, you can freely reuse letters, you can make:

  • Nifty barge
  • If I try, I nag
  • Fry a bent gent
  • Fifty Grey (there's an idea for a book title!)
  • Bye, gnat!
  • Bring Treat (I'm writing this on Hallowe'en)
  • Giant fig

and all sorts of other things. I recommend this anagram web site.

There's also this gorgeous collection of stamps. One has a fish! I just can't emphasise that enough.

Follow this link to see all of today's sales. The word stamps are closing around afternoon tea time on November 1 (Melbourne time), so be quick!

And I'm so pleased to tell you, my friends at eBay have come to my rescue and offered a generous lot of free listings (that's a big deal, because I'm trying to offer these stamps at very reasonable prices, so paying a fee up front does cut into things a bit). So thanks eBay!  By the end the the weekend, you should see no less than 140 new items on offer. Whoa!

PS did you see the fish?

Bid now on the Great Finby!!

What is the Great Finby?

I think that's what we shall call this collection of stamps. As you can see, they are part of an alphabet. They are some of the ones that were originally sold singly - it's not unusual to find eccentric groups of them in people's collections.

Like this.

So if you see your initials, or some of your kids' names, or some other useful word in this combination, you know to go here and bid on them!

This week it's all the PSX sentiment stamps. There are some gorgeous ones. I've tried to group them in meaningful sets, like this:

How much do we love that swooping calligraphy?

So to summarise, I have an amazing parcel of PSX sentiments stamps listed on eBay this week, and I want them all to get to new homes.

So far the sale has been great fun, and I've had lovely chats with various buyers. Nobody's been disappointed, and so far everyone seems to have been delighted!

Want to be in it? Browse and bid at this link.

You've been framed!

... or, you could be framed. That is, you could grab a bargain on a frame style stamp in the Great Southern Stamp Sale. There are forty items closing today, most of them frames, some from PSX, and some from other eminent stamp companies. There's quite a variety. I think you'll find something you like.

There's this cherub-filled ornamental frame. When in doubt, go for baroque.

There's this gorgeous fruit wreath, featuring pineapples. Did you know, pineapples are a symbol of welcome? Read this fascinating article and you will be well informed on just why that is. There's also a terrific photo of a building that looks like a pineapple. See, you learn stuff here.

And when only Art Deco will do, there's this handsome frame.

You'll find all these stamps for sale at this link, closing just around dinner time tonight. My dinner time, that is.

Thanks for a friendly transaction!

If you happen to buy something in the Great Southern Stamp Sale, I'll tip you off right now, your eBay feedback from me when it's all over will be "Thanks for a friendly transaction!". This cheerful but unimaginative phrase has served me well over the years, and I'm sorry to say, I just trot it out every time. Some people write such marvellous feedback, I wonder if I'm being rude, but this is all I have time for.

So, even if we exchanged lots of funny messages, even if we've agreed to send each other birthday cards from now on, it's going to be "Thanks for a friendly transaction!". At least I mean it!

Check out this interesting stamp from the sale - a frame that looks like a photo - it's made by Mostly Animals (another beloved and departed stamp company).

As always, here's the link to the listings.

What's a Magenta stamp, anyway?

In the Great Southern Stamp Sale, I'm listing a lot of beautiful PSX stamps for sale. But there are some other brands too. For example, Magenta. What's special about Magenta stamps?

Well, Magenta are a company that's still around. They are in Canada. Their web site is bilingual! I think these days they are making unmounted stamps, but in the past they were famous for :
- grey rubber
- super detailed images, taken from old illustrations
- very heavy, thick wooden mounts

This is one of the Magenta stamps in the sale....

My personal mascot, Bunky the Art Sparrow, is a Magenta stamp.

So, now you know, if you see a Magenta stamp for sale, it's the real deal, a bit of a treasure you should think about owning. Make sure you know how heavy it is before you agree to have it sent in the post, though!

Wow, look how much I've done!

LAST parcel got posted off today (thanks, teenage daughter, for walking it up to the post box). Is that the last of the sale?

Umm, no.

I just mean the last of the September part of the sale.

Here's a visual:

Here's some empty boxes - there are a few "unsold" stamps in the bottom box. They will turn up again, don't worry.

Here's what's left to sell:

Gulp.

I still have three times the amount
I've already listed...

Oh well, better make a start on it!

If you have a look now, you'll see I've just listed the contents of the two boxes marked "Frames", and have made a start on the box marked "Hearts".

Forty things listed right now.  That's a special number - eBay lets me have forty listings free of listing fees each month. And honestly, since I'm favouring low prices, I really do have to stick to the free listings. From time to time, extra free listings get offered, and that's how I got to list so many last month. If it happens this month, well, I'll let you know!

Here's where to see the current listings.

And here's a sample - a set of six "ornate hearts", by PSX. Pretty, hey?

An awful lot of parcels for the mail

I've been packing the first lot of stamps for posting. What a job! Here's the lot that are going tomorrow. I think you can see why I like the satchels - it makes it easier to pack. So far, no mistakes - I am checking everything multiple times.

And as an added bonus, some of my buyers are engaging in a bit of friendly chat, which makes it all the more fun. I'll be taking a few days break, and listing some more stamps this weekend, or maybe Friday. See ya then!
